Program 02
Farming
Sustainable agriculture builds skills, supports food security, and creates local livelihood opportunities.

Growing resilience
Practical farming skills for stronger communities
The VAD Foundation teaches students and community members sustainable agriculture through horticulture, aquaculture, and animal husbandry. These hands-on programs share practical ways to grow food, care for animals, and build livelihoods while strengthening community wellbeing.
Horticulture
School gardens grow fruits, vegetables, and sorghum to support school nutrition and give students direct experience in agriculture, environmental stewardship, and sustainable commerce. Community training also supports women farmers with skills to cultivate and tend food crops.
Aquaculture and animal husbandry
Training in fish farming and aquaponics introduces practical techniques to local farmers. Animal husbandry learning supports livestock care and explores complementary livelihoods such as beekeeping and poultry, contributing to food security and self-employment.
